Introduction
Welcome to our web site! It has been a long time coming. We hope you enjoy it.
We finally decided that we needed to put together a website to honor those folks
who have done such incredible things with Avonlea Belgian Malinois. These dogs
and their owners have titled and excelled in every avenue of AKC competition
available to Belgian Malinois. They have earned Master Agility Championships
(MACH), Herding Championships (HC), and Obedience Trial Championships (OTCH).
They've earned the Dual Championship title (DC) for completing both a herding
and conformation championship. They have been Best in Specialty Show winners
(BISS) and Herding Group winners. At the American Belgian Malinois Club National
Specialty, they have been Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of
Opposite, and Best in Specialty Show. They have also been Obedience High in
Trial (HIT), Herding High in Trial and Agility High in Trial. They have earned
Awards of Merit and the Versatility Award. They have won the Puppy Sweepstakes,
Working Sweepstakes, and Veteran Sweepstakes. They have been invited to compete
at the AKC National Championships in Obedience and Conformation, and have
qualified for the Agility National Championships, too.
They have also been successful at the highly competitive UKC shows. They've
earned UKC obedience, agility and conformation titles. They've earned the Grand Champion title, and have been BISS at the UBSDA Specialty. They
have won BIS and Obedience HIT at the UKC's annual Premier show, as well as the
UKC's "Total Dog" award. They have been UBSDA National
Specialty Obedience HIT, and High Scoring Belgian in Agility. They've also won UBSDA's Biathlon and Triathlon, for their combined performances in obedience,
agility and conformation at the specialty show.
They've also competed in France. Two Avonlea Malinois have received the coveted
"sujet recommandé" title from the Club Français du Chien de Berger Belge.
Whew! Now you see why we needed to do something to honor these incredible dog
and owner partnerships. This website is dedicated to those teams.
Are you looking for a Malinois?
The Belgian Malinois is an intelligent, sensitive, high-energy, active dog. They
need to live with owners who respect their need for a physical as well as mental
outlet. While they have shorter coats than the Groenendael or Tervueren, they
have the same double coat, and they do shed.
If you are looking for a Malinois, there are several options available to you.
One option worthy of your consideration is the
American Belgian Malinois Club
Rescue program. Their website will detail the dogs available for adoption.
Please consider one of these dogs if you are looking for a Malinois.
There are also good, reputable breeders in the U.S. The breeder referral
information available at the
ABMC website will help you identify breeders in the
United States.
At Avonlea, we sometimes have a litter planned. You can see
our plans at the Puppy Plans link. We do our best to honestly represent each of
our puppies, and match them appropriately with the needs and expectations of
prospective owners. We stand behind our puppies for life, and we hope to stay in
contact during the lifetime of that puppy. We want to know how it is developing,
and offer our assistance when needed.
